E.R. Smith was founded in 1972 by Earl R. Smith as an engineering consulting firm for the commercial printer. Since that time our organization has grown and now incorporates a full line of services for today's printers. Read a recent Lithomax ZMR Press Release

Engineering: ERSA's roots lie in the engineering arena and today we continue that tradition. ERSA routinely handles special engineering projects for web press manufacturers (OEM's) and printers around the world. Our engineering department utilizes the latest releases of AutoCAD to facilitate new equipment designs, reverse engineering, equipment enhancements, and press general arrangements.

Manufacturing: Since the mid-seventies, ERSA has incorporated a full service machine shop. ERSA has continually upgraded its equipment to the latest machining technology to insure parts quality and performance. Currently ERSA has seven large CNC machining centers all connected to a central CAM (Computer Aided Machining) program that allows us to convert AutoCAD drawings into machine code reducing manufacturing cycle time and wasted materials.

Assembly: The ERSA assembly team currently consists of twenty-five people. Like many of the engineers and machinists, a number of our assemblers bring Heidelberg Harris and/or MAN Roland factory experience. Many of the pieces of equipment we have remanufactured were originally assembled by the technicians we currently have at E.R. Smith today.

Inspection: Our inspection department is the cornerstone to the remanufacturing process. To insure the quality of our product, each and every part is sent to our inspection department to guarantee that it meets OEM specification. ERSA has incorporated the latest Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) technology to support the remanufacturing program.

Field Service: To support our remanufacturing program ERSA has developed a field service team. This team is used to support equipment startups, field repairs, cylinder swap-outs, equipment audits, and emergency break downs.
